Sofiah works as a Researcher at Equi, where she played a central role in the completion of Equi’s report on The Economic Contribution of British Muslims, co-authoring the report alongside Sinan. She co-ordinated desk research and conducted expert interviews, and analysed survey data – playing a vital role in the report launch at the Labour Party Conference. Sofiah is currently working on Equi’s upcoming project investigating how Islamic practices can improve the quality and outcomes of the UK care system.
Sofiah is a graduate from the University of Cambridge with a degree in History and Politics. She has a strong passion for minority advocacy and increasing representation of vulnerable communities in policy discussions. During her time at Cambridge, she held several leadership positions, including President of the Cambridge Bangla Society, Secretary and Co-founder of the politics society 'A New Perspective' for marginalised voices, and was the BME Officer for her college.
