Britain United: Celebrating One Year of Equi Featured Image

Equi was delighted to mark its first anniversary with a special reception, Britain United: The Role of British Muslims, held at this year’s Labour Party Conference in Liverpool.

We were honoured to be joined by The Rt Hon Shabana Mahmood MP, Home Secretary, and The Rt Hon Wes Streeting MP, Health Secretary, alongside Sarah Owen MP, Afzal Khan CBE MP, and The Reverend Lord Russell Rook OBE. Their reflections captured both the challenges and opportunities ahead, and the vital contributions of British Muslims to our society.

The evening also saw the launch of our seventh report, Tackling Youth Violence: The Impact of Muslim-Led Organisations. This research highlights grassroots organisations making life-saving interventions with young people across the UK, saving an estimated £30 million annually.

A heartfelt thank you to our speakers, partners, and all who joined us. One year on, we are proud of what has been achieved, but our focus remains firmly on the future. With continued collaboration and support, Equi will keep working to ensure the contributions of British Muslims are recognised in shaping a fairer, more prosperous UK for all Britons.
